The other day I decided to make some homemade gingerbread. Last weekend we made a Gingerbread house (from a box) last weekend for the school’s Christmas Breakfast, I had wanted to make some bread that would taste great while making my home smell yummy too!
Below is an easy recipe for Gingerbread….
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp cocoa
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup molasses (full flavor)
- 1/2 cup butter
Directions:
- In a large bowl mix all of the dry ingredients (except the sugar).
- In a saucepan, add milk, sugar, butter and molasses on medium/low heat until warm and blended stirring frequently. Cool for about 5 minutes and added to bowl of dry ingredients. Stir until well blended and pour into greased loaf pan.
- Cook at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Your gingerbread will be done when toothpick comes out clean.

I haven’t made any yet this year. I also add pepper in mine. I think I got that from my mom, she likes Pheffernuse too.
