I am one of those people that enjoy comfort foods. Those yummy foods like casseroles and creamy and maybe even cheesy pasta dishes. I have now added another comfort food, ham and cheese gnocchi.
One Skillet Ham and Cheese Gnocchi
I am always looking for new dishes to make and decided I would finally buy some of the gnocchi that I always see when shopping along with some ingredients that I have seen others use online and make a new meal. With just a handful of ingredients and my skillet, I was able to make a new decadent dish that was both creamy and cheesy!
Let me show you how you can make this easy one-skillet ham and cheese gnocchi.
First I melted a tablespoon of butter in a skillet. Once the butter was melted 1/2 of a large chopped onion and cooked them over medium heat until the onions were soft and started to golden.
Next I added a little under 1/2 pound of diced ham. I bought one of those breakfast hams that are already sliced. Cook ham with the onions until ham starts to brown.
Next I added 1/2 cup of chicken broth and 3/4 cup water. I let the mixture start to boil and then added the package of Gia Russa Gnocchi that I found at Walmart.
I stirred the gnocchi into the mixture, covered it and and let cook for about 4 until the gnocchi was soft and tender. Next I added 7oz of peas, 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream and some salt and pepper.
Once those were mixed in I added 1 cup of shredded cheese mix. I used a mixture of pepper jack and cheddar to give it a spicy cheesy flavor.
Once I added the cheese, I stirred it in and cooked over low temperature for about 2 minutes until the cheese melted.
Now this is a meal that is delicious, doesn’t take long to make and can be made all in one skillet!
